Music

All the children have the opportunity to sing, to listen to music, to compose and to play music. Recorder group clubs are available for some year groups according to staff resources.

The Schools' Music Service and the LA music service can provide instrumental lessons in violin, flute, clarinet, guitar and keyboard for children in year 3 onwards. There is a charge for these lessons.

Many junior children belong to the school choir which takes part in various performance opportunities during the year.

All children in Y4 are given the opportunity to learn how to play the guitar in a ‘Wider Opportunities’ programme. Those who show promise may be invited to join the school band.

Children in Y2 and Y3 are given the opportunity to learn to play the ocarina.

Class lessons take place either in the classroom or in our lovely music room where a wide variety of instruments and resources are available. Children learn to sing and play music from different cultures and traditions, incorporating musical skills and elements.
