We aim for children to develop an enquiring mind and a scientific approach to investigations.
Children undertake science activities at all stages of their school life, in accordance with National Curriculum requirements; for example learning about living things, energy, materials and the Earth. These themes will increase their understanding of everyday situations and will develop their skills of observation, investigation, questioning and reasoning.
Science in the Foundation Stage forms part of the six areas of learning especially Knowledge and Understanding of the World.
Most science units in Key Stages 1 and 2 are part of the thematic curriculum but some will be taught as a discrete subject.
